Dangling Crystal Earrings

Supplies
34 6mm crystals
6 10mm crystals
2 16mm crystals
2 12mm rhinestone beads
4 2" head pins
26 1 1/2" head pins
2 8mm bead caps
2 18mm perforated ear clips
12" 26 gauge wire

1) Take 6" of 26 guage wire and string five 6mm crystals, then add a 6mm jump ring.

2) Add three more beads. Take the side of wire that only has three beads beyond the jump ring and run the wire through two of the beads on the opposite side. You shoud have a cystal beaded ring with a jump ring in the center.

3) Take your perforated screen and add a genourous amount of glue to the edge of the top. Try to keep the glue close to the outer edge and not cover too many holes towards the center. Place the beaded ring on the glue making sure the jump ring is centered over the back clip at the bottom. Turn the beads face down and apply pressure to the screen making sure the ring stays centered on the disk. Before you can complete this project you will have to wait several hours for the glue to dry. Note: If you would rather omit the glue process you can look at the directions for the red crystal earrings. They are a simpler version of this design. However, they are finished with wire instead of glue. (repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 for the second earring)

4) While waiting for the glue to dry you can go ahead and get the tassels ready. Take a 1 1/2" head pin and cut off the head. Use your round nose pliers to roll the end of the pin into a loop. Close the loop with your flat nose pliers. Take a 6mm crystal and place it on the pin. Cut the pin about 3/8" beyond the bead. Now take your round nose piers and make a loop at the other end. You can leave the second loop open for now. Note: you will be linking the loops and will have to open some of the loops that you have closed. I prefer to completely close one loop since it allows me to make a more accurate cut. You will need to make a total of eighteen of these beads with loops on both ends.

5) Take a 10mm crystal and place it on a 1 1/2" head pin. Cut the pin about 3/8" beyond the bead. Use your round nose pliers to roll the end of the pin into a loop. Make six of these.

6) Take each 10mm crystal and connect it to three of the 6mm crystals. You should have a total of six beaded chains, each with one 10mm bead and three 6mm beads.

7) Take a 2" head pin and cut off the head. Now take your round nose pliers and make a loop.

8)Take the loop and place the end loop of three of the beaded chains on it. Now close the loop around the top loop of the three chains.

9) One you have the three beaded chains connected to the looped head pin take your 8mm bead cap and put it on the pin. Cut the pin about 3/8" beyond the pin. Now take your round nose pliers and make a loop. Use your flat nose pliers and close the loop.

10) Take another 2" head pin and cut off the head. Use your round nose pliers to make a loop. Take your flat nose pliers and close the loop. Add a 12mm rhinestone bead. Now cut the head pin about 3/8" beyond the bead. Use your round nose pliers to make a loop.

11) Take the open loop from the rhinestone bead and hook it to the loop above the bead cap on the beaded tassle. Use your flat nose pliers to close the loop.

12) Once the glue has dried and the beaded rings are secured to the perforated disk you can complete this project. Take a 2" head pin and cut off the head. Place a 16mm crystal in the center of the pin and bend both sides down. Center the bead and run the two bent ends of the head pin through two of the holes on the disk.

13) Push the crystal down on the beaded ring as tight as you can get it. From the back side bend both sides of the pin up against the screen. The pins should be sticking out on both sides. Cut them to where only about 1/8" extends beyond the screen. Now bend them up around the top of the screen and push them down flat to the top side of the screen.

14) If the loop at the top of the rhinestone bead is not open, open it and hook it to the jump ring in the center of the beaded ring. Use your flat nose pliers to close the ring.

15) Repeat steps 7 through 14 for the second earrings. Your earrings should look something like this.
