Red Crystal Earrings

Supplies
2 18mm perforated ear clips
2 2" head pins
16 6mm Czech red AB faceted beads
2 14mm crystals
16" 26 gauge wire

1) Start by taking about 8" of the 26 gauge wire and stringing eight of the 6mm beads. Take one side end of the wire and run it back through two of the beads making a loop. Pull the loop tight to form a ring.
(Fig 1)

2) With the two ends of the wire facing the perforated disk take the red beaded ring that you just made and place it on the top side of the perforated disk and run the wire through two holes centering the ring as best you can. Just give the wire a few twists on the back. We will come back later and secure it. I prefer the look of the ring being glued on but, the security of the wire. If you would rather glue the ring on check out the notes in the last steps.(fig2)

3) Take one of the 2" head pins and cut the head off. Now place one of the 16mm crystals in the center and bend both sides down.(fig 3)

4) Take the crystal that is on the wire that you just bent and center it in the beaded ring. The wires should be centered and poking out the back side.(fig 4)

5) Take the wires and bend them up towards the front of the earring. Cut them off to where they fold of the top of the earrings about 1/8". Now bend them flat to the top of the screen.
(fig 5)

6) Once you have secure the 16mm crystal you can go back and secure the wire from the beaded ring. Take the two ends of the wire and twist them tight. Once they are tight cut the end leaving you with only about 1/8" to 1/4" wire showing. Now take your needle nose pliers and tuck the remaining wire back through one of the holes on the screen. Note: If you chose to glue the ring on to the perforated base you need to wait several hours for the glue to cure. Once the glue is dry and the ring is secure you can pick cut the wires close to the beads and pick up with step 3. When you glue the ring on try keep the glue concentrated on the area under the ring. If you get glue on the perforations it will be difficult to get the wire for the crystals through the back side. (fig 6)

7) You finished earring should look something like this. Just repeat all of the steps to make the matching earring. (fig 7)
